What to know before buying a Trailer

Unlike a single vehicle brand, trailers are produced by many manufacturers, so there is no universal trailer WMI prefix. The first three VIN characters generally identify the manufacturer or assigned manufacturer identifier. VIN formats can also differ for older trailers and certain low-volume manufacturers.
